Linda Manor COVID-19 Update

Dear Residents and Families:

On July 21st we indicated in our letter that a resident of Linda Manor tested positive for COVID-19.  We explained at that time that this resident had been placed on full precautions, was isolated to a private room and had a designated care team caring for him. We also noted that approximately 24 hours after learning about his status, we were able to transfer this resident to a special COVID-recovery facility.

Several days later, we updated folks through phone calls that one staff member and one additional resident had tested positive for COVID, clarifying that our staff member was at home, quarantined and recuperating, while our resident was in a special private room on our designated unit.

Since then, the situation has continued to evolve, and there is currently a total of 10 residents in house and 6 staff that have tested positive for COVID-19. The staff members are home, quarantined and recuperating; affected residents have all been safely moved behind closed doors and cohorted to a designated section of the facility, with separate and distinct staff caring for these residents only.

Staff members are in full PPE (gloves, gowns, mask, face shield) and residents are on special droplet precautions, all according to CDC and DPH guidelines.

Additionally, we have contracted with infection prevention experts from Sodexho, a global corporation specializing in quality of life services, including cutting-edge infection prevention services.

Their experts created a specialized Infection Containment System, with a state-of-the-art air purification system, for anyone entering or exiting the dedicated COVID unit.

All these steps go far above and beyond the already-high standards prescribed by state and federal mandates, as it pertains to best practices around COVID-19. When it comes to your loved ones, and our staff, safety practices that go “above & beyond” are your expectation…and our commitment.

The health and safety of our residents and staff — as always — is our top priority.  Throughout this pandemic, we have been guided by, and consulted with, key federal and state agencies involved in the prevention and mitigation of COVID-19. Their infection control, screening and assessment protocols have been instrumental in our preparedness for this situation. 

We have worked tirelessly to keep this virus away from our community, and successfully did so for 128 days. That said, we have always been prepared for this event and are following all local, state and federal guidelines to keep people safe.

July 21, 2020 Update

Dear Residents and Families,  

We have been informed that a resident of Linda Manor Extended Care has tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).  Currently this resident remains in-house and has been placed on full precautions and is isolated.

In addition, staff throughout the facility will remain in full personal protective equipment until further notice.

The health and safety of our residents and staff — as always — is our top priority.  Throughout this entire public health crisis, we have been guided by, and consulted with, key federal and state agencies who are involved in the prevention and mitigation of the Corona virus. Their infection control, screening and assessment protocols have been instrumental in our preparedness for this situation. It was the strict adherence to these protocols that enabled us to identify this case and resulted in a swift response and implementation of immediate precautions in place to help isolate the situation.

We understand the concerns around COVID-19. Now, with a resident who has tested positive; patients, families and community members naturally may feel concerned about the care we are able to provide to them or their loved ones. We encourage you to remember that the team members caring for our residents at Linda Manor Extended Care are your neighbors and community members. They continue to work incredibly hard to ensure that our most vulnerable populations are being cared for with the highest quality of care, compassion and resources to safeguard their health and wellbeing. We are humbled by your trust in us and will continue to work tirelessly to earn that trust and confidence each day.

This announcement is not intended to raise unnecessary alarm or concern, but to simply keep you informed as your resident’s primary contact, and to assure you that we are taking all necessary steps to safeguard the health of your loved one. We appreciate your continued trust and confidence in the Linda Manor team.
